The Collected Room

What began as a Fluff & Tickle™ consultation quickly made one thing clear: this room didn’t need a few finishing touches. It needed a plan. My client trusted me, we took the bull by the horns, and together we created a home that feels collected, personal, and alive.

The process wasn’t instant. We searched Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace, wandered through vintage shops and flea markets, passed on pieces that weren’t right, and moved quickly when the right ones appeared. Nearly everything in the room was sourced secondhand. The leather sofa was the only piece purchased new.

The green tufted slipper chair brought family history into the room—and promptly became the dog’s. Around it, a Persian rug, sculptural brass table, original artwork, vintage lighting, and an evolving collection of furnishings created the layers that make the space feel as though it has always belonged together.

Including the new sofa from Article for $2,200, furnishings, draperies, art, and styling, the entire room came together for approximately $4,000.00

This is what creating a home often looks like: multiple trips, patience, laughter, running jokes, and pieces collected over time. When you know what you’re looking for—and you’re ready to act when the opportunity appears—a careful budget doesn’t limit character. It gives the room its story.
